We are seeking applications from experienced Structural Steel Site Riggers to join our team, with opportunities in both Christchurch and Queenstown Lakes.
VIP Structural Steel is a locally owned and operated Canterbury business specialising in the design, supply, fabrication, and erection of structural steel for commercial and residential projects.
We welcome applications from experienced candidates based in Auckland, Wellington, Christchurch / Canterbury, Queenstown, Cromwell and Invercargill who are interested in joining our team.
Please note that this role may include some away work across the South Island, depending on project requirements.
The skills and experience required are:
- Minimum of 3 years structural steel site rigging/erecting experience
- Site erection in accordance with relevant specifications and standards
- Rigging and crane signals
- Ability to set heights and levels
- Correct use of single-phase welding machines, grinders, mag drills, dyna drills and other power and battery-operated tools. Welding experience is optional but advantageous
- Correct use of hydraulic equipment
- Exceptional commitment to health and safety
- A high standard of workmanship and good attention to detail
- Ability to communicate clearly in English
- Be energetic and physically fit, with a good attitude
- Be motivated, reliable and punctual, and work well as part of a hardworking team
What you will do:
- Carry out site erection to relevant specifications
- Work proactively to improve customer satisfaction, quality and safety
- Work in accordance with VIP Steel Ltd policies and procedures and maintain a safe workplace at all times
- Work across South Island project locations as required, which may include periods of away work
